God Doesn't Need Your Help

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”
— Psalms 19:14, KJV

I was lying down in bed a few minutes ago when a memory skirted across the theater of my mind.

I was informally sharing a bit of my testimony as one among the group, not the speaker, somewhere—things that aren't written in my book—when I did the unthinkable. I stretched the truth. Yes, it's true. I lied. You see, I became fearful of the eyes staring back at me and wondered if my story as is was enough, and based upon my assessment of how they were receiving me, I thought I needed to share a little white lie.

Not a big deal, right? Wrong! Although no one else really knew or not the fullness of my story is irrelevant; I was well aware and so was God. My lie was my way of saying to God, "My testimony that Your deliverance has given me, isn't enough to reach others so I need to add what I see fit for it to work."

I was wrong.

You see, if the Lord Jesus Christ really needed my help in shaping my testimony, He would have been asking me for guidance in how He should deliver me and what exactly should He deliver me from.

Maybe you haven't done that, or you may have done even worse, but this truth still remains. God doesn't need you to help Him write your story. He has already created the path on which you should walk so trust Him to guide you along His path. He is the Creator, not you. Yes, you were created in His image and because of that you have the ability to create but never alter what you know to be the truth to fit what you want to be your reality.

If you've stumbled or struggled in this area of lying or embellishing the truth about what God has done for you, just repent from your heart and not just saying you're sorry with your lips. Seek God's forgiveness, and if He would have you reach back out to those whom you shared the lie, then do so knowing that whether they forgive you or not, you have been forgiven by the Lord so you are free to go and sin no more.

God truly loves you and wants nothing to hold you back or separate you from Him. Let's just learn to trust and rest in Him. Period.

Love always,
