Looking For Jesus
This is a little personal and I hope you don’t mind.
I've lived abroad for many years and for the last two years I've been a stay-at-home mom.
When you're a stay-at-home mom living abroad that usually means you're detached from everything and everyone you know—all of your usual comforts, connections, and daily activities.
It's not always easy to make the most of every day. As a matter of fact, I recently told my husband that I wanted to go home. I was having a hard day and had been overwhelmed with the monotony in my everyday life. But going home to dear sweet Texas isn't an option right now because my job is to be here: supporting my husband, taking care of my daughter, and keeping my family together.
When I woke up that morning, I prayed and asked the Lord to help me find adventure and to help me see Him during my day in the moments where it gets routine and mundane.
And He did.
It was an absolutely beautiful day. Not because it was much different from any other day but because the Lord made me aware that even in the routines of my days, He's there.
He showed up during breakfast, while doing laundry, at the grocery store, at the track, and even when I took my daughter to play.
When you're not intentional about looking for Jesus in the simple everyday moments (even for those who may not be a stay-at-home mom), it's easy to miss Him. It becomes normal to get caught up in the everydayness of life and to complain when it gets overwhelming.
In this week alone I wonder how many opportunities I had to see Jesus in my every day but missed Him?
Lord, thank You for interrupting my day. It's my daily prayer that you will help me to see You in every moment. I pray that I will always find my everyday life exciting because I know you'll be there. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.
