Will You Pass the Test?

I’ve never been the best at tests. I hate the preparation required to take the test, I hate the pressure of taking the test, then waiting on the results of the test. Unfortunately, at times this attitude carries over into the tests given to me by my Heavenly Father. However, because of all the tests I’ve gone through I’ve matured spiritually and have learned so much about Christ and myself.

When God tests us, it’s actually a valuable thing. David sought God’s testing, asking Him to examine his heart and mind and see that they were true to Him Psalm 26:2 James says that the testing of our faith develops perseverance, which leads to maturity in our walk with God James 1: 3-4 James goes on to say that testing is a blessing, because when the testing is over and we have stood the test we will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him James 1:12

We so often pray for more patience, more wisdom, more money, more humility, but we expect these things to be granted to us overnight. You ever notice when you pray for something, you’re typically tested in that area? Tests from God is how you achieve and receive the very things you prayed about. Being a Christian woman will often require you to move out of your comfort zone and into the unknown. God doesn’t test you because He doesn’t know how strong you are, He often tests you because YOU don’t know strong you are. You typically only realize it when times of testing present themselves. We so often delay our own blessings that are meant for us because we simply fail the test.

When you’re ready to start driving, are you just given a license? Of course not, you take a driving exam to test your ability of being a responsible driver. When a lawyer desires to practice law, are they just given a license? Of course not, they first need to pass the bar exam. Are you seeing a pattern? In order to receive the blessing you have to be tested and pass the test with flying colors. Would you trust a doctor to perform surgery on you if he or she failed their board exams? Probably not. So why should God trust you with a blessing you desire if you do not pass the test he’s given you to receive it. Are you going to pass the next test that comes your way?

My prayer is: “Heavenly Father, help me to be like Abram and be obedient in the tests and trials you’ve given me. I know that your tests to me are to prove that my faith is real. I know that these tests I’m being given come from you who works all things together for good for those that love you and are called according to your purpose. I thank you for your sufficient grace and that your power is made perfect in my weakness. I thank you in advance for helping me stay rooted in your Word like a tree planted by the river side. In Jesus name I pray-Amen!”
