I Surrender All
-“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Surrender is a battle term. It implies giving up all rights to the conqueror. When an opposing army surrenders, they lay down their arms, and the winners take control from then on. Surrendering to God works the same way. God has a plan for our lives, and surrendering to Him means we set aside our own plans and eagerly seek His. You must know and trust that God’s plan for you is always in your best interest, unlike our own plan, which will often lead to destruction. Our Lord and Savior is a wise and generous champion; He conquers us to bless us.
The more areas in your life you surrender to God, the more room there is for the filling of the Holy Spirit. When filled with the Holy Spirit, we will exhibit traits of God’s character. The more we surrender to God, the more our self-worshiping nature is replaced with one that resembles Christ. Romans 6:13 says that God demands that we surrender the totality of our selves; He wants the whole, not a part; “Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.” Jesus also said in Mark that His followers must deny themselves-another call to surrender.
Galatians 2:20 says, “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” This Easter, I urge you to consider the sacrifice Jesus Christ made and how he fully surrendered to God’s plan so that we could have eternal life with him. Jesus understood the importance of surrendering and trusting God’s plan. Will you do the same? Are you willing to completely surrender your life to Christ just as he did for you back on Calvary?
My Prayer is: “Lord, remind us of the love you have for us and how you were willing to sacrifice your son so that we could live eternally with you. Allow us to completely trust and surrender to you. We may not always fully understand the plan you have for our lives, but our faith is strong enough to know that your plan is higher than our own agenda.”
