Be Intentional—Your Life depends upon it!
Writing comes easily to me, along with the rules of syntax, grammar, verbiage, etc. Even with this ease, I will not pick up my pen or computer unless I am intentional about sharing. That probably doesn’t make sense since I am a blogger and author, but there are moments that my feelings don’t align with what I know to do.
Have you found yourself like this? You know you’re supposed to do something, maybe God is calling you to spend more time in His presence and is compelling you to come up higher in Him, yet you don’t. You make multiple excuses as to why you won’t follow through with whatever it is you sense within to do. Why?
It’s because you’re not being intentional.
You may have made good intentions, e.g. “I’m going to spend more time reading today,” yet there was no effort to turn that into action. If you wait until you feel like doing it, whatever your “it” is, you will never be intentional. You will never make forward progress regarding anything.
How does our life depend upon intentionality?
Our walk with Christ—which is the foundation of our life—is based on whether or not we’ll be intentional to seek His face. Sure, He first called and drew us to Himself, but it didn’t end there. We have to choose to deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow Him. We have to choose to be imitators of Christ. We have to decide to take off the old nature and put on Him. We have to believe that when He said, “It is finished,” that was final. We have to choose to believe and walk in the Word and will of God, knowing Him intimately so that He may know us.
This is still a new year, and we still have time to change our mindsets for our good and His glory. Let’s purpose to do whatever it is we do unto the glory of God, from a place of rest and faith, and with clear intentionality. Let’s allow Him to sit on the throne of our lives, not just the throne of our hearts!
