Letting Go of Worry

I Peter 5:7

Throw all your anxiety onto him because he cares about you.”

I personally have tried to just give all my burdens to God and leave them at his feet.  I have literally prayed, “God how can I turn all my worries and problems over to you?”  Contained within the one verse alone in I Peter are amazing truths: God will sustain us, He will never let us fail, and He cares for us.  God has promised to work all things together for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Even at times when we may doubt Him, He is still working for our good and His glory.  He’s also promised that He will allow no circumstance to be so huge that we cannot bear it and that He will provide a means of getting through it.  God also tells us to be of good cheer so that we can (1) rejoice in our problems because God will use them to our benefit Romans 5:3-4 (2) see our worries as an opportunity to practice Proverbs 3:5-6 (3) counteract our anger by obeying Ephesians 4:32.

God is so much bigger than all of our worries and problems put together, and we must realize that if we are to have any victory in our lives.  We can’t let the enemy deceive us into thinking that all of our problems are our fault, all our worries will come true, or all our anger condemns us.  Feelings come from thoughts, so even though we can’t change how we feel, we can change how we think.  Each day taking one step at a time, we should pray for God’s word and promises to guide us.  The secret to giving things over to Christ is really no secret at all-it’s simply asking Him to take our burden and be our Savior as well as submitting to Jesus as our Lord in day-to-day living.

My Prayer is: “Lord, enable me to cast all my cares upon you.  I shall not have a spirit of fear or worry, but a spirit of faith and hope and will dwell in Your promises and not the lies of Satan.  I thank you for already ordering my steps and for fighting my battles."
