The Sweetest Voice I Ever Heard

I can think back on when I was at the lowest point of my life.  Being so low and embarrassed, I never turned to my friends.  I didn’t talk to my family.  I felt very alone.  The loneliness turned into a bitter sensation.  The bitterness turned to pure anger.  I remember being so mad at the world and even more mad at God.  The irony was in the midst of being mad at God; I was still talking to Him.  Every word that came to my head, I spoke; no I yelled them out to God.  One day, during one of my rants, I was yelling, crying, and questioning God.  What I didn’t expect to happen was for God to speak back to me.  My spirit picked up on the voice of the most high.  It was the sweetest sound.  It simply told me to LIVE.

In that moment my soul was convicted but I never felt more loved in my life.  I was yelling at God, I was going off on God, I was upset with God; yet when I heard His voice it was so soft, so calm, and so serene.  I was convicted because how dare I approach the One who has opened so many doors and saved my life on several occasions but I felt so loved because He could have punished me but instead He just told me to live.  After He told me to live, He spoke to me about my future and how bright it really is.  God revealed promises in the time of my despair.

I shared my story because it is an example of why we all should just listen to God.  God doesn’t want us to suffer, He wants us to prosper.  Sometimes God is trying to speak to us but we stay so caught up with all the various distractions, we never make ourselves available.  It says in Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.  That scriptures is basically saying when you go to God and make yourself open to receive a word back from God, He will reveal things that you never imagined.  He will show you pieces of your future that you never dreamed of.  God speaks sweet-nothings to your spirit when you’re feeling low.  God’s voice is always filled with love.

His voice can be heard in so many different ways.  You may hear Him through the voices of others, through the words of the bible, or even through the actions of others around you.  You may even hear Him through a move on your heart.  Keep your eyes, ears, and heart open.  Luke 11:28 says But he said “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”.  Hear God, believe in what God has promised you, and keep His word close to your heart.  You will be blessed for it.  Listen for the sweet voice of God.
